“What part of ashamed don’t you understand Rayna?” She growled, eyes flashing gold. “Don’t you get it? We hated who we were and we hate the fact we are reminded that we are monsters. There’s no escaping that. Gold wanted you to love him for the man you saw in Rumpelstilskin and not see him as the boogie tale man of the fairy tale world.” She pulled her hand away from Shira’s before speaking again. “I nearly killed you once remember? How does that not make me a monster?” Ruby asked not looking at Shira.
Shira said nothing. In all honesty, she didn’t know what to say. She knew that trying to comfort Ruby any further would get her nowhere. She just sat there, a solemn expression on her face. She turned and set her elbows on the island, leaning her forehead in her hands. “Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.” She said quietly. “Forgive me.” Why was everything so confusing now? Damn this curse. She thought to herself.
She sighed before looking at her friend, cursing herself for hurting her again. Slowly she walked over and pulled the older woman into a hug before speaking. “It’s not your fault Shira. I…I feel so confused about these memories. On the one hand I know they are real but at the same time I feel like it’s not me. I just…I feel bad that I ever could do that to you. And I’m so sorry. We’re both so sorry.” Ruby apologized rubbing the other’s back gently.
