Walking through the woods
Ruby nearly stumbled down the stairs as she was throwing on a long red t-shirt having over slept. Her legs were covered by black sweat pants. Throwing open the door she moved her bare feet out of the way to reveal Shira standing in the doorway. “Shi-Shi!” She cried with happiness throwing her arms around her friend squeezing her tightly. Ruby smiled as she held her friend having missed her. Slowly letting go she pulled the older woman into the house.
“I’ve missed you.” The waitress looked a healthier than when Shira had last seen her. Her cheeks were fuller as she was eating and the circles around her eyes were cleared up as she was sleeping better now that she had Regina next to her. “How have you been?”
Shira laughed as she squeezed Ruby back. “Hey you!” She let Ruby pull her into the house. She looked around the lavish home. It was pristine, just like her own house. It smelled strangely of apples. A curious scent for a house Shira thought. She shrugged and smiled widely at her friend. “You look so much better!” She said, holding Ruby’s hands. “I’ve been alright. A little stressed because of the wedding but overall, I’m great. How about you?”
She looked a little ashamed and gave a sheepish smile. “For what it’s worth I’m sorry about going off the deep end there. I just..I didn’t know how to explain everything that was going on with me and Regina.” She squeezed her friend’s hand back. “Come on,” The two entered the kitchen and she began cooking. “Anything I can help you with on the wedding? Me?” The waitress paused, cooking for a minute before letting a smile cross her features. “I’m happy, Shi-Shi. I have her back and everything is right again. I just…It nearly killed me to lose her for that month you know?”
