Regina looked at Red, her gaze moving over her attire and then her own. She swallowed hard, feeling somewhat uneasy about this. Surely, everyone was no aware of the fact that the curse was breaking. She looked at Red and then Henry, looking at his face. He was confused and yet happy. She knew was going to be a lot of explaining to do. Hearing the noise, the Queen turned to where the sound came from; her eyes fell to the dagger. She did her best to hide the snicker that crept in her throat though she found it cute that Ruby was being so protective. It made her smile though it faded when Snow and Charming walked through the clearing.

A group of riders dressed in black came into view, quickly dismounting their horses and drawing weapons.  The Queen stepped forward, a smirk crossing her lips, moving her hand to lower Red’s weapons. “Weapons away,” She ordered, the men re-sheathed their swords and bowed to their Queen.  She motioned the one to her, falling into the role of the Queen quickly. “Summon my carriage.” She instructed, the guard moving to do so. Henry was shocked, seeing them bow before his mom. He looked at Ruby and tugged her town. “My mom’s magic is a lot stronger than your weapons.” He pointed out quietly to her. Henry was putting on his brave face though he was still finding it hard to adjust to the fact that his mom was the Evil Queen.

“We’ll have a ride shortly.” She turned to look at the two, having not heard Henry’s comment. She looked at him. “So, my book was all true.” He said. “It was all true.” She replied with a sigh, looking at Ruby.

She could hear the slight snicker and continued to grip her weapons tightly. The huntress slightly lowered them at the sight of Snow and Charming happy to see her friends. Before she could say anything a legion of the Queen’s guards dismounted and pulled out their weapons, causing her friends to retreat back into the woods. Ruby raised her weapons growling slightly at the men before Regina lightly touched her, lowering the weapons. Sighing she put them away, watching as her lover took control. The commanding tone in mayor turned Queen’s voice sent shivers down her spine and awakened her desire for the other.

Feeling Henry tug her down and whisper into her ear, she felt her cheeks grow red as her cape in embarrassment and they turned the color of her Storybrooke self when she realized why Regina had snickered at herself.  Looking at the Queen, Ruby shrugged her shoulders, not quite able to call herself Red just yet. “Yeah, but they got a lot of things wrong in there too kid.” She gruffly pointed out, knowing that the beautiful woman in front of her was not a soulless monster as the book made her to be.

Soon the carriage came and the three of them found themselves at the Queen’s castle. Walking inside it, Ruby chuckled as she lowered the hood of her cape. “I forgot how massive this place was. Puts that mansion of yours in Storybrooke to shame.” She teased giving her lover a quick kiss before they made their way to Regina’s private quarters. Sitting down she looked at Henry who was staring at the two of them, questions alight in his eyes.

“I know you have questions Henry, and I’m sure your mom will be happy to answer them.” Ruby said, quickly dodging that bullet while praying Regina didn’t kill her for throwing her under the bus. Or was it carriage now? She shrugged her thoughts turning to her other friends and hoping they were alright, and how to let them know she was safe and happy with her love.

Regina stepped into the carriage and sat quietly as they rode back to her castle for the first time in years. She kept a close eye on Henry, noticing him looking out the window with a wide eye. She knew this was going to be different for him but she hoped he would be happy. She worried about him wanting to see Emma and how everything would be from now on. She would worry about that when it came time to acknowledge it. Until then, she would focus on the family that she had with her.

When they were settled in her chambers, the Queen removed her cloak and set it down before taking a seat. She shot Red a look. “Henry, I’m sorry I never told you that your book was true but it is, as you can tell.” She said, sighing softly. “Are we stuck here forever?” He questioned curiously. “Can I learn how to use a sword? Ride a horse? Why did you really curse everyone?” The questions seemed to come quickly, his mind on overdrive. She smirked.

“We are stuck here—other than the curse, I don’t know if it is possible return to the real world. As for swords—when you’re older.” She replied, noticing his face turning downward in a frown.  “I’ll see that you have lessons in riding and other studies.” She smirked, looking at Ruby, wondering how to answer the last question. “And why I cursed everyone—let’s just say I was heartbroken and very angry.” She told him as he settled down on the bed. He nodded. “You’re happy now though, right?” He questioned. “Very, why don’t you rest, when you wake, we’ll have dinner and you can explore the castle,” She said, leaning to kiss his forehead. He fell asleep quickly.

Regina covered him up and stood, reaching for Red’s hand, leading her from the room and into the study just down the hall. She pulled her in close to her and kissed her.

Ruby wilted a little under the look smiling apologetically. She shrugged off her own cloak listening to the explanation her lover gave.  Sighing she realized this meant that she would be unable to smoke cigarettes anymore and groaned causing her family to stare at her. “I’m never going to be able to go get another pack of cigarettes again.” She could tell by Henry’s shrug he didn’t care but the look in Regina’s eyes screamed victory at that fact.

Looking over at Henry she smiled. “I can teach you to ride a horse and how to use a bow and hunt, but like your mom said, you’ll have to wait to learn how to use sword. ” The boy’s face lit up in excitement. “You mean it?!” “I don’t lie Henry.” She smiled back at him before frowning slightly at his question.  When Regina looked at her she shrugged and mouthed the truth. It always worked with the young boy before and she smiled at how he accepted it and soon fell asleep.

Standing up she planted her own kissed on his forehead. “Sweet dreams my precious boy.” She whispered  before grasping Regina’s hand with her own. Ruby allowed herself to be lead into the study and be pulled close. Tilting her head she wrapped her arms around Regina’s neck deepening the kiss.  Pulling away for air, she planted a gentle kiss on the other’s lips.

“I love you.” Ruby said, kissing her again. “I love you Regina.” The words were followed by another kiss. She wanted to keep saying those words to make up for the month she ran away and to assure her lover in case she was panicked about this move back into their home world.  It was selfish too. The woman wanted to make sure that this was real, that her lover wasn’t going to leave her again. Ruby’s next kiss was possessive and desperate not wanting to lose Regina, as she tangled her fingers into the dark locks.
